Team Leaders: Kirby Phillips and Abraham Varghese

This will be the first VIMM trip to Bangladesh, a country of 173 million people in an area roughly the size of the state of Georgia. Less than 1% of the population of Bangladesh is Christian. Most of the medical missions in this trip will take place in Northern Bangladesh, serving some of the hardest to reach populations with medical services and the gospel.

The team will be led by Kirby Phillips and Abraham Varghese.
Team leader Kirby Phillips is a member of the VIMM Board of Directors where he serves on the Trip Steering and Village Health Worker committees. He is the current liaison for our VHW Program in Haiti. Kirby is a Volunteers in Medical Missions Veteran. This will be his 23rd VIMM trip. Having led 11 teams to Haiti, Dominican Republic, Panama, and Sri Lanka, and Cameroon. He also served 2 years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He lives in Georgia with his wife, Kay.

Abraham Varghese, Ph.D., serves as the president of Hope for Life Ministries, a U.S. Based 501 © 3 non-profit charitable organization. He is recently appointed as the National Education Director for Bangladesh. He served as a Behavioral Health Counselor with the department of corrections and brings thirty-five plus years of executive leadership experience with Fortune 100 companies. Abraham has a passion for lost souls and helps others become better people. A devout Christian, and an ordained minister, he spent fifty-plus years sharing the gospel to the unreached people and served as senior pastor. He serves as a missionary to South Asia. Abraham founded and served as the president of the North American Church of God fellowship, president of the Church of God Northeastern Region, and president of the Youth Fellowship of New York and New Jersey. He was involved with VIMM previously. A prolific writer and a convention speaker, he loves teaching the Word of God and conducts leadership and marriage counseling seminars. He believes that we are God's image and are valuable to Him. God has a purpose for us, plans for us, and gives us His promises, and we must claim those promises. God loves us, and apart from Him, we are nothing.

The team will fly out of Atlanta on November 7, 2024, and land in Dhaka (Nov 9). We will spend some time getting acclimatized and packaging medications in preparation for our clinic days. The next day, we will take a flight into the field area of Northern Bangladesh where we spend 5 days in Medical Clinics at the local church. Returning to Dhaka for one final medical camp in the local church there. The team will rest and then fly back to the United States on November 17, 2024.

This will be a challenging, but extremely rewarding trip with the opportunity to show the love of Christ in tangible ways to many people who haven’t yet experienced Christ’s love. Please prayerfully consider joining us in helping those in need in Bangladesh!
