Team Leader: Dr. Stoney Abercrombie

VIMM in partnership with Tremont Church of God in Greenville, SC will form a 30-member team and travel to Copán, Honduras to help with a few construction projects and provide 5 days of medical mission clinics. El Paraiso, Copan is in Northwestern Honduras close to the Guatemalan border. The team will depart from Atlanta and travel to San Pedro Sula. Honduran dentist Dr. Francisco Cruz and other Honduran medical personnel will join the VIMM team in providing care for those in need. The combined teams will stay on campus of second medical clinic built by VIMM in 1987 and travel daily to different villages to care for the local communities. General medical and dental care will be provided as well as the dispensing of reading glasses. The Construction project will consist of building a bridge across a small river so children can walk to school without getting wet. There will be church meetings, Bible school for children, and other types of ministry as the evangelistic component of this trip.

TRAVEL WARNING ISSUED BY THE US STATE DEPARTMENT January 31, 2022:

The US State Department has listed Honduras at a level 3 currently. Reconsider travel based upon The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Travel Health Notice for Honduras due to COVID-19, indicating a high level of COVID-19 in the country. Your risk of contracting COVID-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA authorized vaccine. Before planning any international travel, please review the CDC's specific recommendations for vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers. Visit the Embassy's COVID-19 page for more information on COVID-19 in Honduras.

This warning is taken into consideration and being monitored by our in-country host as plans materialize. The team leader(s) will advise you of any precautions that should be taken while in Honduras.

****Trip Requirement - all team members must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 two weeks prior to trip departure.***

COVID-19 vaccines teach our immune systems how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19. It typically takes a few weeks after vaccination for the body to build protection (immunity) against the virus that causes COVID-19. That means it is possible a person could still get COVID-19 just after vaccination.
